Every top performer in any field has their strategies, and what I’m going to share with you right now is one thing applicable to almost every single field: the power of reflection.
They say life is lived looking forward, yet life is understood looking backward. So take the time to write down the following three tips to ensure you start next year in the best possible way.
1. Reflect on the High and Low Moments
What were the key high events of your year — when you closed a certain deal, reached a certain agreement, got a raise or a bonus? And think also about the low moments — where you almost thought you had that one big contract, but then it went away.
2. Identify the Learning
What is the learning from that? What did I learn? What do I need to do more of? What do I need to do differently in the future?
3. Decide What to Continue and What to Stop
Always think a bit about what you should continue doing, or what you must stop doing. Because if you want to do new things from the learning you’ve gathered, you need to find the time to do them — and that time might come from cutting down certain activities.
Life is lived looking forward, yet life is understood looking backward.
